Burlington Street Ministries is a Ministry of Evangelism and acts of compassion to the streets of Burlington, Vermont. Burlington Street Ministries was founded in April of 1995 by Pastor David Russell of the Restoration Baptist Church in Burlington.
We minister the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Homeless, the alcoholic, the addicts and others who call the streets home.
WHAT WE DO
Our approach to Ministry is four-fold. We do direct evangelism, utilizing teams of people to go out onto the street and pass out tracts and to engage in conversations all who will listen. We also have a booth set up on Church Street every Friday Evening where we give out free Bibles and tracts. We give out over 7000 Bibles every year.
We are a Ministry of Compassion. We provide food, and Quzno's Gift Certificates to any needy person on the street. We also give out sleeping bags, blankets and warm clothing to the homeless as well as provide food to families in need. We seek to provide for felt needs to tangibly model the Love of Christ to a hurting and lost world.
We are also a Ministry of Discipleship. For those who are converted on the street, we provide Bible Studies, Worship, Addiction Support Groups and counseling.
We see as our biggest Challenge to convince the Church in Chittenden County to see Burlington as a viable mission field worthy of support and priority in their plans.
